Created by Raven Kwok (aka 郭 锐文) using Processing, Autotroph is a self-organized cellular structure based on the principles of a k-d tree. Its prototype was first implemented by Kwok in late 2016, and was later developed into multiple experiments, including a version specifically built for FRAMED*. (frm.fm/a/raven_kwok/autotroph)
Autotroph multiplies by day and diminishes by night. Albeit this mechanism being autonomous, the presence and motion of audience can temporarily boost its "metabolism" rate.
This video demonstrates the development progress of the piece.
